愛知県岡崎市を拠点とする陶芸家・田村文宏は、猿投や古瀬戸の影響を受け、古典的な佇まいを感じさせる作品を生み出してきました。ホンジュラス共和国やカンボジアなど、海外での窯業指導の経験は、東洋陶磁の美意識や素材感をあらためて再認識する契機ともなっています。

瀬戸地域では13世紀末ごろの陶製狛犬の出土例も確認されており、早くから狛犬が陶器で作られてきました。この一対は鉄釉で焼かれ、落ち着いた色合いと素朴な表情が特徴です。
狛犬は魔除けや守護の意味を持ち、空間や人を静かに見守る存在とされています。

Fumihiro Tamura is a ceramic artist based in Okazaki, Aichi Prefecture. Drawing inspiration from the traditions of Sanage and Old Seto ware, he creates works that carry a quiet, classical presence. His experience teaching ceramics abroad—in places such as Honduras and Cambodia—has prompted a renewed appreciation for the aesthetic sensibilities and material qualities of East Asian ceramics.

In the Seto region, archaeological examples of ceramic Komainu (guardian lion-dogs) dating back to the late 13th century have been confirmed, showing that Komainu were made in clay from an early period. This pair is fired with an iron glaze, characterized by its calm tones and unadorned, gentle expression. Komainu traditionally serve as protective figures, believed to ward off evil and quietly watch over spaces and the people within them.
